SOUND

THIS IS

Rest through vibrations and resonance.

WHAT IS

SOUND HEALING?

Sound healing is a powerful and ancient practice that uses sound frequencies and vibrations to bring the body, mind, and spirit back into balance. Everything in the universe vibrates including us. When we’re stressed, unwell, or emotionally overwhelmed, our natural rhythm can become disrupted. Sound healing works by gently guiding us back into a more harmonious state. Using specific tones and vibrations, this practice helps to alter the brainwaves, regulate the nervous system, and support the body’s natural ability to heal and rebalance.

At Cedar House Retreat, sound healing experiences are designed to help you slow down, soften and reconnect with your authentic self. Using Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, drums, chimes, voice and other carefully selected instruments, we create immersive soundscapes that invites you to step away from the noise of everyday life and return to presence.

WHAT ARE THE

BENEFITS?

People come to sound healing for many different reasons. Some are seeking rest, some are navigating grief or change, and others simply want a moment to pause. Many people report feeling calmer, sleeping more deeply, experiencing greater emotional clarity and feeling more connected to themselves after a session. For some, sound offers a rare opportunity to step out of the busyness of daily life and simply be.

Research suggests that sound and vibration may help support relaxation and nervous system regulation, encouraging the body to move from a state of stress into one of rest and restoration. There is a wealth of research and how sound can support neurological conditions and physical pain and ailments.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO

FEEL?

You may experience warmth, tingling, emotions gently rising and releasing, or perhaps a profound sense of stillness. Some people drift into a dreamlike state, while others remain fully present throughout. Many people describe receiving sound healing to feel like a vibrational massage. Your body temperature can change throughout too. There is nothing you need to do, just simply get comfortable, listen and be open to receive.

HOW CAN I EXPERIENCE

SOUND HEALING?

Sound healing is offered in a variety of ways at Cedar House Retreat, allowing you to experience the practice in a way that feels right for you. From deeply restorative sound baths and immersive gong baths to rhythmic drum journeys and heart-opening Kirtan chants and songs, each experience offers a unique pathway into rest and connection. Sound is also woven into retreat days, circles and collaborative events, and can be experienced through private 1:1 sessions, bespoke group experiences and corporate wellbeing events.

IS SOUND HEALING FOR

ME?

Sound healing is suitable for most people; however, there are some circumstances where additional care may be needed. If you have sound-induced epilepsy, a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, are experiencing unmanaged mental health difficulties, are pregnant, or have any fractured or broken bones or concerns about participating, please get in touch before booking. We will be happy to discuss your individual circumstances and help you decide whether the experience is right for you.

Whether you're feeling stressed, navigating a life transition, seeking deeper rest, or simply curious to explore something new, sound offers a gentle and accessible way to slow down and reconnect. You don't need to be spiritual, experienced in meditation, or have any previous experience to attend. Just come in comfortable clothes, lay down, listen and receive the vibrations and sounds.

FAQ’s

  • If you're joining us at Cedar House Retreat, there's no need to bring much—we provide yoga mats, blankets, and bolsters to help you feel cosy and supported. Just wear comfortable layers and bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. You’re also welcome to bring an eye mask or journal if that feels helpful for you.

If the sound bath is taking place out in the community, please bring your own mat, blanket, and anything else you need to feel comfortable lying down. A cushion for your head, an extra layer, cosy socks and a bottle of water are also recommended.

For outdoor sessions, we’ll always let you know in advance, so you can prepare for the weather as needed.

  • That’s completely natural. Sound can stir and gently release emotions that have been held in the body. You might feel tears rise, laughter bubble up, or simply a sense of lightness or relief. It’s all welcome. You’ll have time to rest and reflect at the end, and I’m always available to support you if anything comes up.

Occasionally, you may experience a headache or a physical pain as the vibrations interact with your body. It is advised to stay hydrated, rest and seek medical advice if you feel it necessary.

  • Group sound baths are shared experiences held in a relaxed setting with others, usually unknown to you, where you’re guided through a journey of sound together. They are wonderful for general relaxation, nervous system support, and creating a sense of connection and community.

Private one-to-one sessions are more personalised and intuitive. They allow for deeper energetic work, intention setting, and include a short consultation beforehand.

These are especially helpful if you're navigating grief, transition, ill health, anxiety, or want focused support.

    Private group sessions (2-16 people)

These are a great opportunity for a group of friends, family members or teams to have a carefully tailored, shared experience. These can include other modalities, rituals, crafts, food and drinks.
