Our Story
Hi, I'm Carly, founder of Cedar House Retreat in Sussex, a mother of three and a space-holder for those seeking rest, release, reconnection and meaningful community.
As an accredited sound healing practitioner, certified breathwork facilitator and ceremony guide, I create experiences that weave together sound, breath, nature, ritual and compassionate connection.
Alongside this work, I have spent more than 20 years supporting children and families as a Social Worker. That experience continues to shape how I hold space today, with warmth, presence and deep respect for each person's unique journey.
My own experiences of grief, motherhood and neurodivergence have taught me the importance of spaces where nothing needs to be fixed or hidden. Spaces where people can arrive exactly as they are.
Whether you're joining a breathwork session, sound bath, retreat day, grief gathering or ceremony, my intention is simple: to create a place where you feel welcomed, supported and able to reconnect with yourself.
You are welcome here, exactly as you are.
Love,
Carly x
Our Space
Cedar House Retreat is held within the grounds of our family home, a sanctuary nestled beneath our wise old cedar tree. Rooted in nature and simplicity, it’s a place where you’re invited to slow down, reconnect, and be held.
At the bottom of our garden, you’ll find The Ceremony Space a purpose-built studio designed for circles, classes, retreats, and ceremonies. Fully insulated and surrounded by trees and plants, it offers a calm, contained environment for deep rest, emotional release, and reconnection. It’s quiet, cosy, and there’s always a warm herbal tea waiting for you.
For retreat days, we also open the main house, a lived-in, currently being renovated, welcoming family home with space to share meals, sit in circle, and enjoy moments of quiet by the fire. While it’s not a commercial venue, it is a space infused with warmth, care, and intention. Every part of Cedar House Retreat has been created with love, a home-grown sanctuary for rest, change, growth, healing, ritual, and belonging.
